A group of masked miscreants looted several lakhs of rupees at gunpoint from a transport office in Barsuan under Lahuniapara police limits of Odisha's Sundargarh district late on Wednesday night. The incident took place when around five to six armed men stormed into the office and assaulted employees before escaping with the cash.

According to reports, the owner of the transport office informed police that the robbers arrived in two cars. After entering the office, the masked men reportedly beat up the staff at gunpoint and looted the money. They also damaged office property during the incident. Witnesses said the miscreants mainly spoke in Hindi.

Five Employees Were On Night Duty

At the time of the incident, around five employees were present on night duty, while a few others were outside the office but within the premises. The attackers reportedly targeted only the staff who were inside the building during the robbery.

Police Begin Investigation

Police launched an investigation and reached the spot soon after receiving information. Sources said that others were present in the vehicles in which the robbers arrived, and their identities may be established after scanning CCTV footage.

Lahuniapara police were verifying all possible leads to identify the culprits involved in the armed robbery, as sources said.
