In a major success for anti-Maoist operations, a joint team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Chhattisgarh Police on Friday unearthed a Maoist camp and seized a large cache of Maoist materials from the Baludigi forest area under Menpur police limits near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security personnel launched a search and combing operation deep inside the Gariabandh district’s Baludigi forest. During the operation, the forces discovered a Maoist camp that had likely been abandoned shortly before their arrival.
From the site, the security forces recovered a significant quantity of Maoist belongings, including magazines, medicines, and various daily-use items suspected to be used by members of the outlawed group.

Initial investigations suggest that the camp was operated by members of the Sunabeda-Dharambandha Area Committee, a known Maoist faction active in the region. Police sources confirmed that the seizure is a major blow to Maoist logistical operations in the region, especially as such camps often serve as transit or rest zones for armed cadres.
The operation marks yet another success in the continued crackdown on left-wing extremism along the volatile inter-state border, which has long served as a safe haven for Maoist insurgents.
Further investigations are underway to trace the movement and whereabouts of Maoist operatives who fled the camp.
