A man allegedly hacked his elder brother and sister-in-law to death at Chirubeda village under Bisra police limits in Sundargarh district on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Enem Munda and his wife, Shobha Munda. Accused Namjan Munda has been arrested and forwarded to the court.
As per police sources, the accused Namjan, attacked the couple with a sharp weapon while they were asleep. It is suspected that the accused might have murdered his elder brother and sister-in-law following a long-standing family feud.
However, the exact cause of the murder is yet to be ascertained.
Upon being informed, Bisra police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

A pall of gloom has descended in the area following the double murder incident. The local residents are in a state of panic following the development.
"While the couple was asleep on Saturday night, their younger brother murdered them with a sharp weapon. The accused has been arrested during the police investigation. The sharp weapon used in the murder has been seized. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway," said Rourkela DSP Amarendra Sandh.
