Commissionerate Police on Saturday uncovered a sex racket while investigating the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in Odisha's Bhubaneswar. The breakthrough came during a raid conducted in the Laxmisagar area of the city today.
According to reports, ten young women were rescued from a residential property during the operation.
The minor girl who received medical attention, reportedly a native of Jharkhand, was allegedly trafficked and forced into the sex trade at the same location. The house was allegedly being used by individuals linked to the racket, with several rooms reportedly functioning as operational spaces for the illegal activity.
Detentions and Ongoing Investigation
As per reports, two women have been detained for questioning in connection with the case while a male suspect is currently absconding. Police are continuing their investigation to identify the key individuals behind the operation and to determine the full extent of the network.
However, the owner of the house denied any knowledge of the activities taking place on the premises.
