Suspicions of rape have surfaced after a 17-year-old girl admitted herself to Capital Hospital in a bloodied and semi-conscious condition late Friday night in Bhubaneswar. Acting on the doctors’ report, the Capital police have registered a case of alleged sexual assault and launched a detailed investigation.
According to reports, the minor girl reached Capital Hospital on her own, seeking urgent medical help. During the examination, doctors found injuries that raised suspicion of sexual assault and promptly informed the police through the hospital outpost. The girl was later admitted for treatment and medical observation.
Victim Remains Silent
Police officers who arrived at the hospital said that the girl had not been able to provide coherent answers during questioning.
Reports added that the victim appeared to be in severe shock and unable to explain what happened. Officials have also raised suspicions that she might be concealing certain facts related to the incident.
Preliminary Findings & Possible Background
Preliminary medical findings indicate that the girl may have been forced to consume a contraceptive pill, which worsened her physical condition.
Police have further stated that the victim may reportedly belong to a nomadic trading community, hailing from Bihar. The group of migrants is currently staying temporarily in the Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar.

No Family Contact Yet
So far, no family member or guardian of the girl has come forward, and no missing person complaint has been filed in connection with her.
The Capital police have taken up a suo motu case based on the medical report and are working to trace her relatives and identify the suspect involved. The victim remains under medical supervision at Capital Hospital while police await further medical findings to support the ongoing probe.
