A major security scare unfolded in Bhubaneswar after a private car unexpectedly entered the CM Mohan Majhi’s convoy on Wednesday, raising serious questions about the robustness of the security arrangements.
The incident occurred near the Police Commissionerate office, where the CM’s motorcade was passing through as part of his scheduled movement.
According to eyewitness accounts, the convoy was moving through the designated route when a car suddenly slipped into the motorcade lane. The unexpected intrusion caused immediate alarm among security personnel.
Within seconds, officers on-duty rushed toward the vehicle and surrounded it to prevent any further movement. The driver and the car were detained on the spot for questioning.

The breach has triggered discussions about how such an incident could occur despite the strict protocols typically enforced during VVIP movements. Questions are being raised about whether adequate barricading was in place and why checkpoint personnel failed to halt the approaching vehicle before it entered the restricted route. Considering the sensitivity and high-security nature of a Chief Minister’s convoy, the lapse is being viewed as extremely concerning.
As of now, the police have not issued any official statement regarding the circumstances of the breach or the identity and intent of the driver. An internal inquiry is expected to be initiated to determine whether negligence, miscommunication, or operational failure led to the incident.
