Konark is all set to host two major cultural events, as the Konark Dance Festival and the International Sand Art Exhibition are set to begin on December 2. 

In the run-up to the celebrations, Puri Collector and District Magistrate Dibya Jyoti Parida reviewed the ongoing preparation work in Konark on Thursday and inspected the light and sound system scheduled to be inaugurated at the Sun Temple.

Preparation and Infrastructure Review

As per reports, authorities are strengthening arrangements in anticipation of a large tourist turnout. With thousands of visitors expected to arrive during the festival period, police conducted a flag march to create awareness and ensure law and order is maintained. The collector reviewed various infrastructure components and emphasised coordinated departmental efforts to manage crowd movement efficiently.

The 36th Konark Dance Festival will take place at the Konark Open-Air Auditorium from December 2 to 5. Alongside, the 15th International Sand Art Festival and the Subhadra Mela will be organised at Chandrabhaga beach, attracting artists and tourists from across the country and abroad.

Tourist Management and Safety Measures

The district administration issued directions to strengthen arrangements related to lighting, sanitation, drinking water supply, parking space and traffic management. Special focus is being laid on safety planning and systematic crowd control.

Puri Collector and DM Dibya Jyoti Parida said, “We are mainly focusing on safety and security. We are also focusing on how to manage the crowd and held a detailed discussion regarding the same. Safety certificates from all concerned departments will be gathered, and all required arrangements will be made.”
