In view of the heavy tourist footfall expected during the peak tourism season, Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh reviewed the security arrangements in Konark on Wednesday.
With thousands of visitors arriving daily to witness the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sun Temple, police have intensified surveillance and strengthened ground-level preparations.
During his inspection, the SP examined the existing security setup around the Sun Temple and emphasised the need to further enhance measures in the coming days. Singh directed officials to remain alert and ensure round-the-clock monitoring of sensitive zones.
Ensuring Safe and Hassle-free Experience for Tourists:
Police have also urged hotel operators, lodge owners and local auto-rickshaw drivers to promptly inform authorities if they come across any suspicious individuals or activities. Officials said cooperation from local stakeholders is crucial to maintaining safety during the busy season.
The review meeting, chaired by the Puri SP, was held at the Konark Yatri Niwas, where NAC Executive Officer, the local Tehsildar, intellectuals of the region, hotel association members, departmental officials, officers from various police stations and the Nimapada SDPO were present.
Authorities stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure a safe and hassle-free experience for tourists visiting one of Odisha’s most iconic heritage destinations.
