KIIT student death: Odisha govt closely monitoring situation, says MLA Saroj Padhi

The Odisha government is keeping a close watch on the investigation into the recent death of a KIIT University student, said BJP MLA Saroj Padhi on Sunday. 

Another student of the university was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside a hostel in Bhubaneswar, adding to growing concerns over a series of similar incidents on the campus in the recent past.

Padhi stated that the State government is taking the matter seriously and ensuring that the inquiry is conducted thoroughly.

"The government is closely monitoring the inquiry into the incident. If KIIT is found guilty, the government will definitely take stern action, and no one involved will be spared. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has consistently emphasised that no guilty party will be spared. If any irregularities are detected, strict action will be taken against KIIT. We will also urge the Chief Minister to take strong action against KIIT," said BJP MLA Saroj Padhi.

The deceased student has been identified as Rahul Yadav, a first-year Computer Science student from Chhattisgarh. Police suspect the incident may be a case of suicide, and the Infocity Police have begun a detailed investigation.

This is not the first such incident at KIIT University in recent months. Two other high-profile deaths on campus have already sparked widespread public concern and renewed demands for enhanced safety measures for students.
