KIIT Engineering student death: Case registered against 15 fellow students as family alleges pre-planned murder

In a major development in the death of KIIT student N. Aditya Abhijit, the Chandaka police on Friday registered a murder case against 15 students of the institute following serious allegations made by the deceased’s father.

The case was registered at Chandaka Police Station in Bhubaneswar after a formal complaint was lodged by Ajit Kumar Nayak, father of the 20-year-old student. Based on his FIR, police converted the earlier unnatural death case into a murder investigation and began probing the role of the named students.

Aditya, a second-year Electrical Engineering student, had gone to the Balunkeswar Pathargadia area on the 13th of this month along with fellow KIIT students for what was described as a picnic. His father has alleged that his son was deliberately taken there and killed in a pre-planned manner.

Pre-Planned Murder

According to the complaint, Aditya had an altercation with some students two days before the incident. The family suspects that the dispute may have escalated, leading to his death. Reports indicate that among those under suspicion are two former KIIT students.

While police have registered a murder case and initiated a detailed investigation, sources say the post-mortem report indicates death due to drowning. Officials have stated that no conclusive evidence of homicide has yet been established, but all angles, including the allegations against the 15 students, are being thoroughly examined.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the academic community in Bhubaneswar. KIIT authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
