Internet Services Restored in Cuttack After 48 Hours

The restrictions were clamped in 13 places following the unrest in Cuttack. Earlier, it was said that the restrictions were relaxed as no new notification regarding extension was issued.

Internet services were reportedly restored in Cuttack after remaining suspended for nearly 48 hours in the wake of recent unrest in the city. The resumption of connectivity has brought major relief to residents, students, and businesses, who were impacted by the temporary shutdown.

The internet services were suspended as a precautionary measure following clashes in certain parts of the city. The Odisha Home Department had earlier extended the suspension by another 24 hours — from 7 PM on October 6 to 7 PM on October 7, 2025 — citing concerns over the possible misuse of digital platforms to spread rumours or incite unrest.

Earlier in the day, the 36-hour curfew restrictions in Cuttack were lifted with authorities confirming the return to normalcy in the city. Twin City Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh informed that the curfew restrictions have been lifted in Cuttack.

The curfew, which began at 10 PM on Sunday, concluded as scheduled at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Commenting on the situation, the Police Commissioner said, “Police Commissioner now said, "The situation is being closely monitored, and adequate police have been deployed at sensitive areas. No untoward incident was reported during the curfew period.”
