According to police sources, the arrested cybercriminals are residents majorly from Bihar, Kerala, and Odisha. The gang had been operating from a rented house in the Badagada area of Bhubaneswar, which they were using as their primary operational base to carry out large-scale cyber frauds targeting people across different states.

During the raid, police recovered and seized a substantial cache of incriminating materials, including nearly 60 mobile phones, multiple laptops, gift cards, and lottery cards. These items were allegedly used by the accused to cheat unsuspecting victims through various online platforms, digital applications, and fraudulent schemes.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang was running a well-organised cybercrime network, using multiple mobile numbers and digital identities to lure victims and siphon off money. Police suspect the accused to be involved in several cases of cyber cheating and financial fraud, though the exact number of victims is yet to be determined.

Senior police officials stated that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the fraud, trace the money trail, identify additional victims, and determine whether the gang has links with other cybercrime syndicates operating in the country.
