India will be free from Naxalism by March 31, Says Amit Shah at CISF Raising Day in Odisha

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Odisha to participate in CISF's 57th Raising Day. He also stated India will be Naxalism-free by March 31.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Bhubaneswar on Friday and proceeded to Mundali in Cuttack to attend the 57th Raising Day celebrations of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), where he asserted that the country would be free from Naxalism by March 31.

Shah was received at Bhubaneswar airport by OdishaChief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, State BJP president Manmohan Samal and other leaders. Soon after his arrival, he left for Mundali to participate in the official programme marking the foundation day of the force.

CISF’s Role In Industrial Security

Addressing the gathering, the Union Home Minister praised the contribution of CISF personnel in safeguarding key installations and supporting the country’s industrial growth.

“I extend my gratitude to the CISF jawans and their families on the occasion of the 57th Raising Day for providing security to the nation. Making India the greatest economy cannot be achieved without industrial development, and to protect that development an industrial security force at the national level is essential,” Shah said.

“I am happy that in these 56 years, CISF has not only stood firm in fulfilling this responsibility but has also evolved with time,” he added.

Shah further said the force has embraced modernisation while remaining rooted in its traditions. “Bravery, sacrifice and self-denial are hallmarks of India’s glorious history. By combining these qualities with dedication and modern weaponry, CISF has demonstrated the courage to face all kinds of challenges. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all personnel of the force,” he said.

Commitment To Eliminate Naxalism

During his address, Shah said the Centre was determined to eliminate Naxalism in the country.

“I assure the citizens of the country that India will be free from Naxalism by March 31,” he said.

He stated that the country was now at the threshold of becoming free from the menace due to sustained operations by security forces.

“The Modi government is determined to free the country from Naxalism by March 31, 2026, and the CISF has played a crucial role in that effort. Whether in Odisha, Chhattisgarh or Telangana, CISF has made significant contributions in eliminating Naxalism,” Shah said.

“Our security forces will completely defeat those who dream of a Red Corridor from Tirupati to Pashupati and establish their dominance. This will be a major achievement for our security forces under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.

Tribute To Freedom Fighters

Shah also said the role of CISF would remain crucial in achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047 and in supporting the country’s industrial expansion.

During the programme, he remembered several freedom fighters and martyrs, including Shaheed Rajguru, Bakshi Jagabandhu and Veer Surendra Sai. He also paid tribute to the youngest martyr, Baji Rout.
