Union Home Minister Amit Shah will dedicate the Sulphuric Acid Plant (SAP-III) of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) to the nation at its Paradip unit in Odisha on Friday.
The new facility was established by IFFCO at its fertiliser complex in Paradip and forms part of a broader effort to strengthen fertiliser production infrastructure in the country.
The programme is also aimed at advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of 'Sahkar se Samriddhi', which focuses on strengthening the cooperative sector.
Dedication Of Sulphuric Acid Plant At Paradip
During his visit, Shah will formally dedicate the Sulphuric Acid Plant (SAP-III) set up at the Paradip unit of IFFCO. The facility is expected to enhance production capabilities at the fertiliser complex and support the overall functioning of the cooperative fertiliser sector.
Sulphuric acid is a crucial raw material used in the manufacturing of several phosphate-based fertilisers that are widely required in agriculture. With the commissioning of SAP-III, the Paradip unit is expected to strengthen the availability of key inputs used in fertiliser production.
In the fertiliser industry, sulphuric acid plays an important role in ensuring the steady supply of fertilisers essential for crop cultivation. The establishment of the new plant is expected to support the production chain of fertilisers and contribute to improving supply stability for farmers.
Cooperative Sector Initiatives To Be Launched
Following the dedication of the plant, the Union Home Minister will inaugurate and launch several cooperative-sector initiatives at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar.
These include the release of the State Cooperative Policy, signing of a memorandum of understanding for setting up a school under Tribhuvan Cooperative University, and another MoU for the revival of Badamba Sugar Industries. Shah will also dedicate 1,567 Common Service Centres operated by Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Large Area Multipurpose Societies (LAMPS).
The programme will also feature the virtual inauguration of need-based infrastructure for 141 PACS, the launch of the RCS Office Portal, the digital launch of the Direct-to-Consumer portal of National Cooperative Organics Limited, the launch of Coop Marque developed by National Cooperative Exports Limited, and the introduction of Savidya, an AI-enabled multilingual digital learning platform.
