Ahead of the December 9 T20 international between India and South Africa at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, the Twin City Commissionerate Police has issued a detailed parking management plan.
The release details the parking plan for spectators and pass-holders, specifying multiple zones around the venue and routes to be used for entry. Parking arrangements will remain in force during today’s practice sessions and on match day, along with previously announced traffic restrictions, informed the CP.
Main Parking Zones For Spectators And Pass-Holders
According to the notification,
- Upper Baliyatra Ground and Lower Baliyatra Ground (entry through Ring Road) will be the primary zones, with the Upper Ground earmarked for VIP vehicles and the Lower Ground designated for general spectators.
- Additionally, the Cricket Academy Ground, accessible through YMCA Road or the Lions Eye Hospital route, will be available for members of the OCA and other dignitaries.
- TV crew and authorised pass holders will use the parking space in front of Horse Gate (Triangular Space) via Killa Fort Road.
- OCA Club parking will be accessible via Madhusudan Statue/Kalu Canteen, but only for VIP and dignitary pass holders. St. Xavier's School Parking (Gate No.14) has also been listed for VIP/dignitary pass holders.
Authorities clarified that emergency vehicles such as fire tenders, ambulances, police and essential-goods carriers will be exempted from these restrictions.
Practice Session Schedule Open To The Public
Meanwhile, both teams are scheduled to practise today, with spectators allowed to enter two galleries. The Men In Blue reached Barabati Stadium this afternoon.
According to OCA, India will practise from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm, while South Africa will train from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm under floodlights. Galleries 6 and 7 have been opened for fans to watch the nets session.
A red-soil wicket is being used for the first time at Barabati for a T20I, following inspection by the BCCI pitch curator on Thursday.
Security Deployment And Vehicle Movement Restrictions
Commissionerate Police has stated that 50 platoons of force and around 300 officers will be deployed in and around the stadium during practice and match day.
Heavy traffic regulation will be enforced on both days, with several stretches around Barabati Stadium restricted only to pass-holder vehicles during specific time blocks, prioritising team movement and dispersal of crowds. Movement of heavy vehicles will remain prohibited during match-related hours.
