Ind vs SA T20I at Barabati Stadium: Commissionerate Police issues traffic advisory; check details

The police have urged the citizens to cooperate and consider alternative routes to avoid congestion. Spectators, motorists and residents in nearby areas have been requested to adhere to the advisory to ensure hassle-free movement and a smooth match-day experience.

Ahead of the India vs South Africa T20I match scheduled at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on December 9, the Commissionerate Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory for commuters.

A practice session for both the teams will also take place on December 8, for which traffic regulations will come into effect.

According to the advisory, heavy traffic is expected on all connecting routes to the stadium due to player movement and match-related activities. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and strictly follow the instructions of on-duty traffic personnel.

On Dec 8, restrictions will be in place from 12 PM to 9 PM during the practice session. Similarly, restrictions will remain effective from 8 AM until the conclusion of the match and dispersal of the crowd on December 9.

Traffic restrictions

Vehicles coming from the Mata Matha side shall park at the Lower Baliyatra Ground.

Pass-holder vehicles shall take a left turn at the Bamboo Depot and park at the Upper Baliyatra Ground.

Vehicles coming from Howrah Motor Chhak and Mani Sahoo Chhak shall not be allowed towards Madhusudan Statue from Grinnar Hotel Chhak. They shall use the Mahanadi Ring Road via Old Law Hostel-gada and park at the Lower Baliyatra Ground.

Except pass-holder vehicles, no other vehicles shall be allowed towards Barabati Stadium from Biju Pattanaik Chhak or Chandi Chhak. Such vehicles shall proceed via Cantonment PS Chhak and park at the Lower Baliyatra Ground.

No vehicles shall be allowed towards Baliyatra Ground via Killa Fort from Ananda Bhawan Chhak. They shall proceed via Cantonment PS Chhak and park at the Lower Baliyatra Ground.

Except pass-holder vehicles, no other vehicles shall be allowed towards Madhusudan Statue via Hanuman Mandir Chhak when approaching from Samaj Office Chhak.

Odisha Cricket Academy (OCA) Ground pass-holder vehicles shall proceed towards YMCA Crossing or Lions Eye Hospital, and thereafter park at OCA Cricket Academy Ground.

Vehicles coming from the Reserve Police Line shall not be allowed to enter Barabati Stadium through Odisha Police Association (OPA) Chhak.

Except pass-holder vehicles, no vehicles shall be allowed towards Barabati Stadium from Madhusudan Statue Chhak.

Except pass-holder vehicles, no vehicles shall be allowed towards Barabati Stadium from Lions Eye Hospital Chhak via Kill Khana Road. These vehicles shall use the Ring Road and park at the Lower Baliyatra Ground. 

Movement of heavy vehicles shall be strictly prohibited on the Mahanadi and Kathajodi Ring Roads, as well as inside the city limits, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 AM. 

Due to the players’ practice session on 08.12.2025 at Barabati Stadium, the movement of heavy vehicles shall remain completely restricted on the Mahanadi Ring Road from Chahata Chhak and Sikharpur Chhak towards Bamboo Depot, from 12 noon to 10:00 PM.

Commissionerate Police has advised the commuters to plan their route accordingly and take alternate routes where possible to avoid inconvenience. For smooth traffic management during this period, cooperation from the general public is solicited.
