Two persons were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a scooter near Budhaamba under Kabisuryanagar police station limits in Ganjam district in Odisha on Wednesday night.
According to police, the accident occurred late in the evening when the two two-wheelers were travelling in opposite directions. The impact of the collision was severe, killing two riders on the spot.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Rudranarayan Dash and Rashmiranjan Padhi, both residents of Kumuti Sahi in Kodala. Their bodies were recovered from the accident site and later sent for post-mortem examination.
Apart from the fatalities, three other persons sustained injuries in the crash. One of the injured, whose condition was stated to be critical, was referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for advanced treatment. The condition of the other two injured persons is reported to be stable.
Police Probe Underway
On receiving information, personnel from Kabisuryanagar police station rushed to the spot and carried out a preliminary investigation.

Police said they are probing the exact circumstances leading to the head-on collision, including road conditions, speed and movement of the vehicles involved.
