Well-groomed dogs, responding to their handlers’ cues, showcased a range of talents like dancing, jumping and striking impressive poses.

The scenes unfolded at the three-day National Dog Breed Competition being held at the premises of the OUAT College of Veterinary Science in Bhubaneswar. The event features around 35 different breeds of dogs from across India and overseas.

Among the major attractions of the dog show is the Shih Tzu breed from China. The tallest Pomeranian also drew significant attention, with many visitors remarking that it looked like a toy.

Apart from foreign breeds, indigenous Indian breeds are also making their presence felt at the event. The Mudhol Hound, an Indian breed, is showcasing its elegance at the dog show.

Notably, the Indian Army has been deploying Mudhol Hounds in various operations.

"Our Shih Tzu is taking part in the dog show. We have another American breed of Cocker Spaniel at our home and the dog is not taking part in this show. Both the dogs are foreign breeds and purchased from Thailand. It's very much expensive to keep these dogs as pets," said Sofia, owner of a dog.

"It's my passion and I love my dogs so much. I have kept more than 35 breeds of dogs. One of my dogs have already emerged champion earlier," said Supriya, another owner of a dog.
