Elderly woman killed after being hit by train in Odisha’s Boudh

In an unfortunate incident, an elderly woman lost her life after being hit by a train in Odisha’s Boudh district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Kasturi Ghibila of Khuntiapada village.

According to reports, the incident occurred while the elderly woman was attempting to cross the railway tracks. At that moment, the Bhubaneswar-Purunakatak Intercity Superfast Express approached and reportedly struck her. As a result, she sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.

Local residents immediately informed the police about the mishap. Upon receiving the information, Boudh police reached the scene, recovered the body, and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

"An express train travelling from Bhubaneswar to Purunakatak came to a halt on the tracks near the bypass road of our village. When some villagers approached the train to find out what had happened, they discovered that an elderly woman from our village had lost her life after being struck by the train," said Kartik Bhokta, a villager.

"An elderly woman has lost her life in a train accident. We request the government to extend appropriate compensation and necessary assistance to the family members of the deceased during this difficult time," said Debahari Bagha, a local resident.
