A chaotic scene unfolded during the annual Bali Yatra in Cuttack on Thursday evening during the concluding day’s celebrations, when a massive crowd gathered to witness Bollywood playback singer Shreya Ghoshal’s live performance.
The overwhelming rush near the main stage led to a stampede-like situation, leaving at least two people unconscious.
Eyewitnesses said that thousands of visitors thronged the venue to enjoy the concert on its last day, but crowd control measures proved insufficient as people began pushing against the barricades in an attempt to get closer to the stage. The pressure caused panic and confusion, resulting in a few individuals collapsing due to suffocation and exhaustion.

Senior police officials, including the Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP), reached the venue to monitor the situation and ensure the crowd dispersed safely. Senior officials are also present at the site to prevent any type of untoward incident and ensure the concert goes well.
Meanwhile, authorities have appealed to visitors to maintain calm and follow safety guidelines during public gatherings.
