The move aims to give more time for visitors to experience the fair, which commemorates Odisha’s ancient maritime trade links with Southeast Asia. Bali Yatra in Cuttack draws lakhs of people daily to the banks of the Mahanadi River.

Regarding the cultural festivities and a possible concert by a major Bollywood singer, the Additional District Magistrate of Cuttack said that a decision in that regard will be taken today.

“The Cuttack Collector will convene a meeting this afternoon with relevant authorities and share the planned activities for November 13,” said the ADM.

Massive Footfall And Business Activity

Sources reported that the extension was prompted by both high footfall and increased trade in this year’s Bali Yatra.

The ADM added that lakhs of visitors have been thronging the venue every evening, leading to packed stalls and brisk sales. Thousands of traders from across the country have set up shops, selling everything from household goods and handicrafts to traditional sweets and textiles.

With one extra day added, the extended schedule is expected to boost both visitor footfall and trader revenues, while offering one last opportunity for families and tourists to enjoy the festival’s vibrant mix of heritage and celebration.
