Courage in uniform: Several Odisha cops honoured with gallantry, distinguished and meritorious service medals

Several police personnel from Odisha have brought laurels to the State after being selected for prestigious Police Service Medals in recognition of their exceptional courage, dedication, and exemplary service. The medals, announced recently, include honours for gallantry, distinguished service, and meritorious service, highlighting the commitment of Odisha Police towards maintaining law and order and serving the public.

As many as four police personnel from the State have been selected to receive the Police Medal for Gallantry for their acts of bravery performed in the line of duty. Those honoured for gallantry include Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Atul Krishna Das, Assistant Sub-Inspector Purnachandra Pradhan, and two constables — Ghanshyam Sahu and Thabir Majhi. Their courageous actions under challenging circumstances have earned them national recognition.

Meanwhile, two senior officers from Odisha will be conferred with the Police Medal for Distinguished Service. The recipients are Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Prateek Mohanty and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prafulla Singh. Both officers have been recognised for their sustained leadership, professionalism, and significant contributions to policing and public safety.

In addition, 11 police personnel from the State have been selected for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in recognition of their dedication and commendable performance over the years. The recipients include Inspector General Sarthak Sadangi, Commandant Sriprasad Tamang, Assistant Superintendent of Police Subhanarayan Muduli, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar, Pranita Kumari Ray, Commandant Ashok Mohanty, Inspector Arun Nayak, Mohammad Hafiz, Havildar Lata Naik, ASP Nigamananda Mohapatra, and Inspector Lakshminarayan Muduli.
