Initial reports suggest that the violence stemmed from clashes between two rival groups, including supporters of suspended BJD corporator Amresh Jena. Tensions escalated over Amresh Jena’s political poster, triggering the confrontation.

Upon arriving at the scene, Amresh was allegedly attacked by members of the opposing group, resulting in injuries to his head and face.

“A clash occurred between two groups over Amaresh’s poster put up in Laxmisagar locality in view of the New Year. After he arrived at the spot, the opposing group attacked him, injuring his head and face. Police detained five people and seized a car,” some residents said.

“Initially, it was said to have erupted over a car clash,” the residents added.

Police are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause and sequence of events. Meanwhile, police action has focused on detaining involved individuals and securing the evidence. As of now, injured Jena has not issued a public response regarding the attack or the ongoing investigation.

No comments were even received from the local police in this regard.

Worth mentioning, earlier in another incident, some unidentified miscreants had allegedly vandalised the Ward Office of Amaresh Jena under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s Ward No. 45 late at night on August 9 this year.

The attackers had reportedly broken into the office, damaged property, and fled the spot before locals or police could intervene.
