Miscreants vandalise arrested BMC corporator Amaresh Jena’s ward office in Bhubaneswar
Unidentified miscreants allegedly vandalised the Ward Office of Amaresh Jena under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s Ward No. 45 late on Saturday night. The attackers reportedly broke into the office, damaged property, and fled the spot before locals or police could intervene.
Jena, a controversial figure, is currently lodged in jail in connection with an alleged rape case. The incident has sparked questions over the motive behind the vandalism, especially as it occurred while Jena remains behind bars.
The miscreants allegedly hurled stones at glass doors and window panes of the office causing damage to the property, sources said.
Police from Laxmisagar Police Station rushed to the scene upon receiving information and has initiated a detailed investigation. Forensic and crime scene teams were engaged to gather evidence.
While the exact reason for the attack remains unclear, officials suspect it could be linked to personal enmity or political rivalry. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the culprits.
The vandalism has stirred local political circles, with residents expressing concern over security lapses in the area. Authorities have assured strict action against those responsible.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the Commissionerate Police had arrested Jena from Nilagiri in Balasore district in connection with a sexual assault case involving a minor girl.
Commissionerate Police had earlier formed three special squads to nab Jena, who was absconding after the allegations. He was subsequently arrested and was brought to Bhubaneswar.
