Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 cases continued to rise in Odisha with detection of 112 more cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection and one death from 18 districts across the State, informed the State I & PR Department. With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in the State rose to 3498 on Friday.

Of the fresh 112 Covid-19 cases, 107 were detected from quarantine centres and five are local contacts, added State I & PR department.

Meanwhile, the total active Covid-19 cases now stand at 1131 while 2354 patients have so far recuperated and 10 persons have lost their lives due to the disease.

The person who succumbed to Covid-19 was a 55-year-old male of Ganjam and undergoing treatment in a hospital. He was suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome, informed the Health and Family Welfare Department. The death toll due to coronavirus in Ganjam rose to five while the total number of positives in the district stood at 658 which includes 138 active cases and 515 recoveries.

Puri reported the highest 15 Covid-19 cases today followed by Khurda (8), Ganjam (6) and Angul (6). Similarly, five each cases were detected from Keonjhar, Gajapati, Sambalpur, Bolangir and Balasore districts, four each cases from Sundargarh and Nayagarh, three each cases were reported from Malkangiri, Jajpur, Cuttack and Boudh districts & two each cases from Jharsuguda and Deogarh districts.

A total of 3,833‬ RT-PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the cumulative tests to 192576.
