Senior administrative officials in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Tuesday led a cleanliness drive at Daringbadi ahead of the much-anticipated Daringbadi Winter Festival, scheduled to be held from January 8 to 11. The initiative was aimed at ensuring a clean and welcoming environment as the popular hill station prepares to receive a large influx of tourists.
The drive was led by Daringbadi Block Development Officer (BDO) Pritiranjan Rath and Tahasildar Dhiraj Patra, who were seen actively participating in the sanitation exercise early in the morning. Wearing masks and carrying brooms, the officials cleaned public roads and spaces alongside local residents, setting an example of community-led cleanliness.
Emphasis on Cleanliness and Public Participation
Speaking on the occasion, BDO Pritiranjan Rath said the initiative focused on public awareness and collective responsibility. “Cleanliness is Service’ is the guiding principle behind this programme. Residents and officials have come together to spread awareness about maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings,” he said.
Highlighting Daringbadi’s importance as a tourist destination, Rath added, “Through our campaign ‘Clean Daringbadi, Green Daringbadi’, we aim to sensitise both locals and visitors about protecting the environment.”
Community Effort Ahead of Tourist Influx
Tahasildar Dhiraj Patra said the cleanliness drive was a shared responsibility. “This is not an individual effort but a collective one. Under the motto ‘Clean Daringbadi, Green Daringbadi’, we are working together to keep our surroundings clean,” he said.
Thanking participants for their support, Patra added that tourists from across Odisha and other parts of the country visit Daringbadi during the winter season, making it essential to preserve its natural beauty.
