A picnic outing on Sunday turned chaotic at the famous Duluri Pine Forest in Daringbadi of Kandhamal district, as clashes broke out between two groups, creating panic across the area. The incident occurred on the last Sunday of the year 2025, when a massive crowd had gathered at the popular tourist spot.
On the occasion of the year-end Sunday, tourists from various parts of the state and across the country had arrived at Duluri Pine Forest to enjoy picnic outings amid the scenic surroundings. However, the festive mood was disrupted when a section of visitors allegedly consumed alcohol and began arguing loudly.
Clash Between Two Groups
The situation escalated when two groups got into a physical fight. The clash quickly intensified, spreading fear and chaos throughout the area. Eyewitnesses said the violence led to people running for safety, as panic gripped the otherwise peaceful tourist destination.
Police Step In, Use Mild Force
Police rushed to the spot and initially attempted to bring the situation under control. However, their efforts reportedly failed as the violence continued. Later, police detained the accused individuals and resorted to a mild baton charge to disperse the crowd and restore normalcy.
Situation Brought Under Control
Following police action, the situation was eventually brought under control, and peace was restored in the area.
The incident has raised concerns over safety and discipline at tourist spots during peak holiday seasons, highlighting the need for stricter monitoring to prevent such unruly behaviour during public outings.
