A serious incident at the Vishwambharpur Project UP School in Badamba block has left a first-class student injured after being struck by an iron rod. According to sources, the incident occurred close to the under-construction school building, where construction materials like iron rods are still scattered. Rituprabha was initially provided medical aid at the Badamba Health Centre, following which she was referred and shifted to the Cuttack SCB Medical College & Hospital for advanced treatment due to the seriousness of her injuries.

The incident has sparked concerns among students and parents about the safety of children attending the school. The semi-constructed building poses a significant risk, especially to young children, as construction materials remain exposed and unsafe.

Following the incident, the School Management Committee chairman immediately informed the Badamba Block Education Officer (BEO) about the situation, urging authorities to take prompt action to safeguard students.

Local residents and guardians have now demanded urgent measures to either complete the construction or cordon off the hazardous areas to prevent further accidents. They emphasised that ensuring the safety of students should be a top priority for the school and the education department.

The authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the steps to be taken, but the incident has highlighted the urgent need for better safety protocols in schools undergoing construction.
