The six-day police remand of arrested inmate Madhukant Rana in connection with the Choudwar Jail escape case ended on Monday. He was produced before a court and subsequently sent back to Choudwar Jail in Odisha's Cuttack.

Police officials stated that several crucial details were obtained during the remand period, and further investigation into the case is ongoing.

Key Details Revealed During Interrogation

According to police sources, Madhukant disclosed important information during custodial interrogation. He reportedly explained step by step how he managed to escape from the jail and how the alleged conspiracy was planned. Investigators gathered multiple inputs during the six-day questioning.

Madhukant was earlier arrested from Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh. While he has been apprehended, the main accused in the case, Raja Sahani, continues to remain absconding.

Escape Method and Subsequent Movements

As per reports, Madhukant revealed that he used a saw to break out of the jail. He also stated that he used items such as a mosquito coil, sugar and a blanket in a manner that prevented detection inside his cell.

After escaping from the jail, he and Raja Sahani reportedly travelled to Puri and later moved to Vrindavan. Police said Madhukant was working at a hotel in Vrindavan when he was arrested.

Manhunt for Main Accused Continues

Officials stated that information regarding Raja Sahani’s whereabouts has been gathered, and efforts are underway to arrest him. Police teams are stationed outside Odisha to trace and apprehend the absconding accused.

Investigators are also examining whether any jail officials were involved in facilitating the escape.

According to police sources, another remand of Madhukant will be sought to enable further questioning as the probe progresses.
