BJP National VP and Tamil Nadu Election In-Charge Baijayant Panda meets AIADMK chief

BJP’s National Vice President and Tamil Nadu election in-charge Baijayant Panda met Tamil Nadu Opposition Leader and AIADMK General Secretary K. Palaniswami at his residence in Chennai on Monday. 

Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran was also present during the meeting.

This visit marks Baijayant Panda’s first trip to Tamil Nadu after being appointed as the party’s election in-charge for the state. He received a grand welcome from state BJP leaders at Chennai Airport upon his arrival yesterday.

Tamil Nadu is scheduled to have Assembly elections next year, and discussions are underway regarding a possible BJP–AIADMK alliance for the upcoming polls.

Baijayant Panda was appointed as the party’s Election in-charge for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections last month. He will lead the party’s election strategy and oversee preparations in Tamil Nadu. He will be supported by Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, who has been named Election Co-Incharge.

The appointments were seen as part of the BJP’s renewed push to strengthen its organisational base in Tamil Nadu ahead of the crucial polls.

As per party insiders, Panda’s national-level experience and organisational role are expected to play a key part in shaping the BJP’s outreach in the southern state, where the party is seeking to expand its footprint.
