Two young men from Nayagarh lost their lives in a tragic accident on Tuesday morning in BJB Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Bhubaneswar’s Badagad police station. The duo reportedly lost control of their motorcycle and crashed into a road divider, resulting in their instantaneous death.
Accident Details and Cause
According to initial reports, the motorcycle was travelling at high speed when the riders lost control and hit the divider. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
Eyewitnesses initially suspected that another vehicle might have hit the bike and fled. However, CCTV footage later confirmed that the accident was a self-sustained crash caused solely by loss of control and impact with the divider.
The deceased, who are residents of the BJEM School locality in Nayagarh, had left home early in the morning to visit the Puri Srimandir and offer prayers to Lord Jagannath. Their pilgrimage tragically ended in a fatal road mishap.
Investigation and Next Steps
The postmortem of both victims was conducted at Bhubaneswar’s Capital Hospital. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether the riders were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
After completing the necessary formalities, the bodies were handed over to the families.
The incident has renewed concerns about road safety, particularly regarding overspeeding and adherence to helmet rules. Police have urged motorists to strictly follow traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
