In a step to ensure smooth crowd control, Biju Patnaik International Airport authorities issued an advisory keeping in mind the large number of passengers expected to travel during the Republic Day celebrations. With January 26 being a public holiday on Monday, just after the weekend, many passengers are planning trips to their hometowns, leading to increased ticket bookings and footfall at the airport.
As per standard operating procedures, security arrangements are tightened every year during Republic Day. Authorities noted that additional time is required for security checks, particularly for luggage screening, due to heightened vigilance during this period.
Passengers Urged to Arrive Early
Passengers have been advised to cooperate with airport security personnel and allocate sufficient time for the check-in and screening process. Arriving early will help avoid delays at luggage scanning points and during immigration procedures.

Avoid Last-Minute Hassle
The advisory also cautioned passengers arriving during peak or early morning hours that heavy crowding could lead to inconvenience and disrupt travel plans. Airport authorities stressed that reaching the terminal well ahead of scheduled departure will ensure smoother security clearance and better time management.
The airport administration has appealed to passengers to follow the advisory and plan their journeys responsibly to ensure a safe, orderly, and hassle-free travel experience during the Republic Day holiday rush.
