Bhadrak revises school timings amid severe cold wave conditions in Odisha

In view of the prevailing severe cold wave conditions, the Bhadrak district administration has announced a change in school timings to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

As per the order issued by the District Collector, all schools in the district will function from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays instead of the usual early morning schedule.

The revised timing will come into effect from January 10 and will remain in force till February 14. The decision applies to all government, aided and private schools from Class I to Class XII across Bhadrak district. 

The move aims to protect students from exposure to extremely low temperatures during early morning hours, which could adversely affect their health.

Odisha is currently experiencing an intense cold wave, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting that the harsh winter conditions are likely to persist for at least the next two weeks. Several parts of the state have been recording significantly low minimum temperatures, accompanied by chilly winds and fog, leading to increased health risks, especially for children.

District officials said the change in school timing has been introduced as a precautionary measure in response to the prevailing weather conditions. School authorities have been directed to strictly adhere to the revised schedule and ensure that students are not required to arrive on campus during the coldest part of the day.
