Armed miscreants assault youths, passerby in Berhampur

Panic gripped Berhampur after a group of miscreants unleashed terror on a busy public road at Sabarao Square, one of the city’s main thoroughfares. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, has now come to light after CCTV footage of the attack went viral on social media.

The CCTV footage shows three miscreants arriving at the spot on a scooter and targeted two youths who were travelling on a motorcycle. Brandishing sharp weapons, the accused threatened the youths and demanded that they hand over their belongings. When the victims resisted, the miscreants allegedly launched a violent attack on them.

Miscreants attack passerby

The situation escalated further when a passerby attempted to intervene and stop the assault. The miscreants reportedly turned on him as well and assaulted him, adding to the chaos at the crowded junction. The entire sequence of events, including the brutal attack, was captured on nearby CCTV cameras.

Stone pelting at nearby houses

Not stopping there, the miscreants allegedly pelted stones at nearby houses and a parked car, causing damage before fleeing the scene on their scooter. 
Following the incident, the victims have filed a complaint at the local police station.

Locals have demanded strict patrolling and action against the accused.

Earlier, a bomb attack was aimed at a hotel in the same area. The series of violent episode in the same area has triggered fear among residents and commuters in the area.
