Armed gang busted in Berhampur, pistol and 12 rounds ammunition seized

The Baidyanathpur Police arrested four persons and seized a pistol along with 12 rounds of live ammunition during a late-night police operation in Berhampur town of Odisha’s Ganjam district, officials said on Friday.

Suspicious Movement Leads to Arrest

The arrests were made during routine night patrolling when police personnel noticed a group of individuals moving under suspicious circumstances. The team intercepted the suspects for questioning, following which a detailed search was carried out.

Arms and Ammunition Recovered

During the search, police recovered a pistol, a magazine and 12 live cartridges from the possession of the accused. Based on preliminary findings, officials said the group was allegedly planning a large-scale dacoity in the area.

Crime Averted

Police said the timely intervention by the patrolling team prevented the suspects from executing their alleged plan, thereby averting a serious crime and ensuring public safety in the locality.

 Investigation Underway

 All four accused have been taken into custody, and a detailed investigation has been launched to verify their identities and criminal backgrounds. Police are also probing possible links to earlier criminal cases. Further legal proceedings are underway.
