3 armed dacoits rob family of gold worth Rs 2 Lakh in Odisha’s Kendrapara

In a daring robbery at Kalasapur village in Kendrapara district, three unidentified criminals broke into the house of Balaram Sahu last night and looted gold ornaments and other valuables worth around Rs 2 lakh. The dacoits allegedly entered the home armed and fled with the ornaments, leaving the family in shock, police sources said on Thursday.

According to the official sources, following a complaint by the victim's family, the local police at Aul in the district have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. Authorities have yet to release further information on the progress of the inquiry.

The incident has raised concerns about safety in rural areas, as residents fear a rise in such targeted robberies in the Kendrapara district.

“Some miscreants barged into my house and looted at gunpoint. They brandished firearms and put a knife to my neck and committed the crime. One of the dacoits threatened me to keep quiet and sit in a corner of the house,” victim Balaram Sahu said to OTV.

“They warned me of dire consequences, in case I retaliate. The dacoits looted valuables and gold ornaments worth around Rs 2 lakh and cash of Rs 3,000. After committing the crime, they threatened me not to speak about this to anyone,” Balaram stated.

“Even to the extent, before leaving my house, they warned that my house would be blasted by hurling bombs if I disclose the heist incident. ‘We will cut you into pieces and throw them outside,” the elderly house-owner expressed, quoting the dacoits.

However, no comments were received from the local police in this regard.
