52 personnel honoured with state-level police medals for bravery and exemplary service Photograph: (OTV)
As many as 52 personnel were honoured with state-level Police Medals in recognition of their exemplary service and acts of bravery on the occasion of Republic Day on Monday.
As many as 20 officers received the Governor’s Medal for Meritorious Service. Prominent among them are Southern Range Inspector General (IG) Niti Shekhar, Central Range IG Satyajit Naik, and Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh, whose contributions to policing and public service have been widely acknowledged.
For displaying exceptional courage and valour, nine personnel were conferred with the President’s Medal for Gallantry. In addition, two officers were awarded the Police Medal for Distinguished Service, recognising their outstanding dedication and long-standing commitment to duty.
Further, 11 personnel received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service for their commendable performance and professional excellence.

Extending the honours beyond the police force, seven personnel from the Fire Services Department and three personnel from the Jail Department were also awarded Police Medals in recognition of their significant contributions to public safety and administration.
The awards highlight the state’s appreciation for the unwavering dedication, bravery and service of personnel across various uniformed services who continue to work tirelessly for the safety and well-being of the public.
