36-hour curfew imposed in 13 areas of Cuttack to maintain law and order

In view of recent disturbances, the Commissionerate Police on Sunday announced a 36-hour curfew in 13 police station areas of Cuttack city to prevent any further unrest and ensure peace.

Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh informed that the curfew will remain in force from 10 PM tonight for the next 36 hours.

The curfew has been imposed in the following areas — Dargah Bazaar, Manglabag, Cantonment, Purighat, Lalbag, Bidanasi, Markatnagar, CDA Phase-II, Malgodown, Badambadi, Jagatpur, Bayalish Mouza, and Sadar police station limits.

The Police Commissioner said the decision was taken after a detailed review of the situation and to ensure the safety and security of the public.

“No miscreant or troublemaker will be spared. Strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb peace or violate the curfew,” Singh asserted.

Additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive zones, and security personnel are conducting round-the-clock patrolling to maintain law and order across the city.

Citizens have been urged to cooperate with the administration, stay indoors during curfew hours, and avoid believing or sharing unverified information on social media.

Meanwhile, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania reviewed the current situation in Cuttack on Sunday and appealed to the public to maintain law and order and urged everyone not to believe in information circulating on social media.

The DGP appealed that people should rely only on verified information available on the official police website.
