At least three persons were killed in a tragic road accident in Sambalpur on Sunday. The mishap occurred at Naxapali area on National Highway No. 55.
According to reports, a car rammed into a stationary ash-laden truck that was parked on the roadside. The collision took place when the car hit the truck from behind, resulting in severe damage to the vehicle.
Local residents, along with ambulance personnel, rushed to the spot and broke open the car’s windows to rescue the injured occupants trapped inside.
The car driver reportedly succumbed to injuries on the spot, while two other injured persons were shifted to Burla for treatment, where they later died.

Upon being informed, Dhanupali police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
" We were sitting at a tea stall when we heard a loud noise. We immediately rushed to the spot and discovered that an accident had occurred," said an eyewitness.
"Three people were killed in the accident. The driver died on the spot, while the other two succumbed to their injuries at Burla Hospital," said Dhanupali IIC.
