Bhubaneswar: The body of a woman was found in a car parked near Hanuman Mandir in Sriram Nagar under Lingaraj police limits here this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Tanuja Aich, whose body was initially spotted by locals on the front seat of the vehicle bearing registration number - OR 02AM 2600. Subsequently, some locals informed the police.

Family members of the deceased woman have alleged that her husband Sangram Aich could be behind her murder as the couple were going through a rough patch of their relationship.

"He was torturing Tanuja for last 3 to 4 years and even threatened to marry another woman. He should either be jailed or hanged," Tanuja's relative Narendra Kumar Jena said.

After getting information, Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Kumar Sahu along with a scientific team rushed to the spot and started investigation.

A mobile phone, some documents, clothes and photos were also seized from the car.

The car, which has been damaged on right of the front side, is registered in the name of a private company SR Carriers, said sources.

"The identity of the deceased lady has been established. She was resident of Jajpur and was married. An investigation is currently underway and the reason behind the incident will be known after thorough probe,” informed Sahu.

“The body has been sent to the Capital Hospital for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death,” added the DCP.
