Sambalpur: A Woman forest guard posted at the Sambalpur Sadar forest range was trapped by Vigilance department officials while accepting a bribe of Rs 36,000, on Tuesday.

As per reports, the woman forest guard, identified as Madhusmita Mohapatra was allegedly caught red handed while accepting the bribe money from the complainant Parsuram Mirdha, Treasurer of the VSS  for passing of bills in connection with construction of VSS building and execution of plantation works.

It is pertinent to mention here that of late the anti-corruption wing has stepped up its drives against corrupt officials in different parts of the State.

On October 27, the Vigilance sleuths had caught the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Nandapur in Koraput district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.75 lakh.

The officials of the Jeypore division had laid a trap based on a complaint and nabbed the CDPO Snigdharani Mishra while she received the bribe amount from a contractor in her office for issuing a duplicate bill.
