Balasore: A team of the anti-corruption wing has seized Rs 2,34,900 cash from the possession of district civil supplies officer (CSO) Raja Ali in Balasore district.

The vigilance sleuths raided the house and office of the district civil supplies officer on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Acting on a tip-off, the Balasore vigilance division officials raided his office and seized Rs 2,34,900 from his possession yesterday. He had allegedly taken bribe from a miller.

Speaking to OTV, Vigilance SP Santosh Mishra said, "While Ali was leaving for home from office yesterday, we stopped him right there and started our search. During the raid, our team unearthed cash of around Rs 2.35 lakh from his office drawer. After further investigation we will verify the source of the cash."

On the other hand, accused Raja Ali said, "This is a conspiracy against me. Neither my office nor my drawer was locked and the cash that has been found doesn't belong to me. I was on my way to home when the officials stopped me and started searching my car and pockets where they found nothing. This is definitely a plan to defame me."
