Bhubaneswar: There seems to be no respite from chilly winter in Odisha as of now, as the Regional Meteorological Centre here has forecast intensification of cold wave conditions from tomorrow.

The minimum temperature is likely to dip by 1-2 degrees over the coastal belt of Odisha during the next two days, while mercury levels are expected to fall by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius below normal, the MeT Centre predicted.

Intense cold wave conditions will prevail over Odisha as night temperature is expected to hover around 10-11 degrees in many places of the State, particularly in the interior regions.

There will be no significant change in minimum temperature in Odisha on December 29-30, however, shallow to moderate fog conditions will be seen in Cuttack, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Kalahandi, Malkangiri district, said MeT centre director HR Biswas.

"There is a likelihood of night temperatures dropping from December 30th night and thereafter. The minimum temperature will fall by 2 to 3 degree Celsius and it will be below normal by 3 to 5 degrees after December 31, 2020. On the new year day too, the temperature will be slightly below normal," informed Biswas.

The night temperature in Bhubaneswar will drop by a maximum of 2 degrees and the city will experience misty conditions early morning during the next 48 hours.

The IMD has also issued a warning for several parts of Odisha which will experience intense cold wave conditions after the New Year. In view of the prevailing weather conditions, a yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal.
