Angul: Surprising as it may sound, a video clip showing two stray dogs taking a nap on the bed inside a ward of Talcher Sub-Divisional Hospital in Angul district has taken the internet by storm.

What is indeed concerning is how the dogs managed to get into the hospital and sleep on the bed meant for patients. Taken aback by the incident, the video of which has gone viral on social media, locals alleged that it is due to carelessness of hospital authorities.

Blaming the mismanagement, locals and the patients said that dogs entering the hospital wards is almost a regular affair.

"The video not only shows how acute the problem of stray dog is but also the negligence on the part of medical and civic authorities in dealing with the menace," said a resident of Talcher.

Another local alleged that such problems arose because no security guards are deployed at the hospital.

The hospital authorities have started an investigation into the matter, said CDMO Abhay Dash. "This sort of carelessness in the hospital premises is unacceptable. We will look into this, and at the first place we need to find out how the dogs entered the hospital," Dash said.
