Kendrapara: Fire personnel on Sunday rescued a family stranded for around 4 days in flood from the coastal district of the State.

As per information, five members of a family including 3 children were trapped in Kaithapal island near Rajkanika after floodwater gushed into their area following rise in water level in Brahmani and Baitarani river.

As the family could not return back to high dry ground, they had to spend 4 days on the top of their house amid the flood.

They lived on whatever they had during the period and also sometimes had to sleep without food, but their hopes never faded.

Informed about the family, the fire personnel deployed in the region for the flood swung into action and rescued the family from the jaws of death.
