Bhubaneswar: The incessant rainfall triggered by low pressures has aggravated flood situation in different parts of Odisha. So far, 32 breaches have been formed in major river systems in different parts of the State. Of the 36 breaches, nearly 24 have been formed in Jajpur district while Bari block has been worst hit by the flood, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Pradeep Jena on Sunday.

As many as 17 officers have reached Bari block which was cut-off since yesterday. Relief and rescue operations have been intensified in the region, he said.

According to the SRC, the flood situation in three rivers- Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga and Baitarini is improving and the water level is now below the danger mark. Three gates of Rengali dam have also been closed today.

The current level of Hirakud dam now stands at 127.95 ft and the inflow into the reservoir is reducing. Floodwater is now being released through 46 gates of Hirakud dam and two more gates will be opened, if needed.
