Resumption of the CPP followed VAL’s raw bauxite sourcing of 30 thousand tonnes from Balco's Kawardah mines in Chhattisgarh.
Meanwhile, the company also expects 90 thousand tonnes of bauxite from Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC). In the first phase 45 thousand tonnes of the mineral will reach the company on 26th of this month.
The company needs 10,000 tonnes of bauxite every day to run the plant at full capacity.
Earlier this year, on September 6 Vedanta gave a formal notice to state labour & employment dept for temporary closure (stoppage of work) of Lanjigarh alumina refinery with effect from Dec 5, 2012. But due to bauxite scarcity the company was forced to shutdown the refinery temporarily on October 13.
