Bhubaneswar: With the Centre easing COVID-19 restrictions on several sectors in Unlock 4, the India Railways has decided to run two more pairs of special trains from Odisha starting September 12.

According to Railways sources, one pair of express train will run from Puri to Durg and vice versa on a daily basis, while the other pair of train will run from Puri to Ahmedabad on Wednesday and Ahmedabad to Puri on Friday.

The booking of accommodation in these fully reserved trains will start from September 10, sources informed.

Notably, the Railways has decided to run 80 new special passenger trains adding more trains to already operational 230 trains across the country.

The Railways suspended operation of its trains following the nationwide lockdown from March 25. The Railways then subsequently started operating Shramik Special trains from May 1 to transport stranded migrant workers, pilgrims, students and tourists.

The Railways launched 15 pairs of special air-Conditioned trains from May 12 and 100 pairs of time-tabled special trains from June 1.
