Bhubaneswar: The evaluation of Plus II answer sheets is likely to be affected after Odisha government re-enforced 14-day complete lockdown in four high caseload-districts -- Cuttack, Khurda, Gajam and Jajpur, and Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) with effect from tonight.

“There are 35 major Plus II copy checking centres in the 4 districts and Rourkela city where the government has imposed 14-day lockdown in wake of rising COVID 19 cases. Due to restrictions, evaluation may suffer,” said Samir Dash, School and Mass Education (S&ME) minister.

“The department’s principal secretary has written to collectors and SPs urging them to allow evaluation during the weekend shutdown.  With the government imposing lockdown, the collectors of the areas where lockdown comes into force now will look into the matter and decide if evaluation can be allowed or not,” Dash added.

Replying to a question about declaration of results, Dash said, “Until and unless the evaluation is complete, it is difficult to say when we can publish the result.”

It may be noted that the government has decided to publish the Plus II results by July end.

In order to hasten the evaluation process amid the pandemic, the School and Mass Education Department has urged all the district collectors to exempt the evaluation centres from the purview of weekend shutdown districts other than the ones where lockdown will be imposed.

Since exams of several papers were canceled in the wake of COVID 19 pandemic, the government has announced that in case a student has appeared exams in 5 papers, his average mark will be decided based on his top 3 performances while if a student has managed to sit for 4 papers, his average will be figured out from the top 2 scores.

If the students are not happy with their marks, they can appear for improvement examination after the COVID 19 crisis is over.
