Nuapada: Two members of a marriage party were killed and six others sustained critical injuries in a major road mishap near Timanpur in Nuapada district on late Friday night.
The accident occurred when a group of people were returning after attending a marriage function in Haladimunda village in the district.
Sources said at least eight persons were travelling in an SUV which turned turtle after the driver lost control of the steering wheel. One person died on the spot after the vehicle skidded off the road while another breathed his last on way to the hospital.
Following the mishap, a rescue operation was launched by Sinapali police who then rushed other injured to the nearest hospital. The condition of all the injured in said to be stable.
